Note: The break between school years is only two weeks in Japan graduation is usually at the end of march with the beginning of the school year starting on April 5th. So this whole part is taking place in that couple of week break between school years.

There you have it. Chapter 2 is now complete. I hope this explains a lot. I wanted to try explaining why Hitomi is in a Boy's uniform instead of leaving it a mystery and I recalled noticing a few girls out where I live dresses in boy's school uniforms, where uniforms were enforced. I found out that a group of girls took on the school board with a human rights case and won so thought that made for an interesting reason behind the uniform.

Well hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Next chapter will be Hitomi's new look. I'll begin that next week.

I like that you gave Hitomi depth beyond being in love with Ayumi.  Nice to see her get a little pride and enjoy a personal victory not tied to getting the girl.

I tend to really think over my characters when writing about them. Their motivations, their desires, love interests, fears and so on. It makes for a more interesting story along the way.

It is still common place for schools with enforced uniforms to force girls to wear skirts even with the number of cases of sexual assaults that happen on subways. It is a problem that still needs to be dealt with.

What's really bad is people blame the girls for wearing these skirts saying they deserve the harassment when the schools are the ones that are enforcing the whole skirt rule.

I just have to say, this older sister sounds so darn much like me.
The only difference being that I did not run away.
My parents and the school, "put me in my place" terribly.
(My parents beat me bloody, and the school said I was "Sick" and "NEEDED to go to a councilor", all because I was standing up for my self, and trying to BE myself. :-(!!!!!!!)

Terribly, that's what happens to you in the REAL World when you stand up for your rights.
:-(!
And it was only that "good" (not getting arrested for being a "dyke" and such, as the school was threatening to do to me, if I "Stepped out of line one more time") because I was a kid/underage.
:-(!!!!!!!

Just so you know this is nothing like my life. If you want to know the hell I went through check my novel about my high school year: [link]

The world can be a horrible place. I've written about the truths about the darker side of life for years, For inside Out I wanted to work on something a little more light hearted for a change. A different pace for me entirely.

Wow.
And Thank you so much for providing that link.

You words have said a lot of what I have been screamed, yelled, and been plainly told NOT to say, or speak about in my life.
Thank you so much for saying it for me.
:-)

And yes, the world IS a TERRIBLE place. :-(!!!!!!!

I'm so GLAD you managed to find a wife.
:-)

can I ask?
How did you manage to?

I'm a Hermit, and live in an EXTREMELY PREJUDICE State and the thought of actually finding someone ... well, I've already been told by god Himself that I won't.
*sigh!*
...
I just can't imagine someone as beat up as us being able to find someone to love them.
But you managed it.
How?
How in the world did you get so darn lucky?

Welcome, glad you are enjoying it and that it helped you. I was always told not to talk about a lot of my past, but I finally snapped and just started writing it all. It started with my deranged and extremely long manga/novel series A Shadowlander's Dream. After seeing the reaction to that story I decided to write Dreaming and really get a lot of stuff out of my head.

The story of how we met isn't a secret. We met on Live journal of all things. I was write these deep dark journals about my struggles and I was at a low point and for some reason I decided to allow comments to my journal at that moment. That very day she accidentally hit the "random user" button and ended up on my page. she made a comment that was nothing like my fan base. We got talking and several months later we met up for Toronto Pride. After that we decided we couldn't be apart so she moved out to be with me. That was 8 year ago now. Something completely random and unexpected, but the best thing to ever happen to me in my life.

Even just ONE darn friend, to Truly have a Heart to Heart with.

Wow, it's WEIRD how unexpected things will happen and then turn out like that.
Heck, it's shocking that GOOD unexpected things can happen at all.
So far I'm still waiting for G O O D Unexpected things to happen for me.

Anything unexpected in my life so far has been LIFE CHANGING/ALTERING
H E L L/EVIL/B A D.

I never searched for anything there. I posted my story and site updates there and the occasion life stuff. Kept it locked because I didn't wish to talk to anyone, it was just there for my fans to keep track of what was going on.

I have written about how we met on my page in several places actually. It is something I talk about all the time considering it was such a strange and wonderful little series of events that brought us together.

there's a lot of monologue!!!

*dies*

anyway, I always wondered... how does one differenciate between loving a friend as a friend and loving a friend well... like that. It's not like you just wake up one day and say 'I think I love X as a lover!'

...

is it? O.O

Not really, that is normal of a shoujo and I'm trying to explain the back story. Seeing as I normally write novels that is normal for me.

It is something you can suddenly realize, when you notice the depth of your feelings are much deeper then they original were. Such as having sexual dreams about said friend and the like.

umm... dreams are dreams... psychologically it can also mean that the said girl needs to get back in contact with her feminine side (I've been researching over that ;P). I mean, just because I dreamed a few nights that I was a werewolf it doesn't mean I really am one, is it?

I am sorry to bother you like this but I'm really trying to understand the mental process of it all. (I'm asexual, and even if I can access the knowledge, the whole feeling is quite inaccessible to me, sorry >.<... But I really AM trying ^^; )

<--- has been reading a lot of yaoi and yuri looking for the answer and it still has eluded her. (therefore concluded that I must bother one of the main sources XD)

Hope I'm not testing your patience! *hides*

Feminine side?!? You are kidding me right? Have you not been following anything that has been going on in this story at all? If you really think having sexual dreams about your best friend means you need to get connected with your feminine side you have more to learn then you know. Maybe I have not been clear enough, even though it is stated in many ways through out the story. She can't live without being with Ayumi, wants nothing more then to hold her, to touch her, to lover her, to have sex with her and it hurts like a knife through her at the idea of not being the one for her. That is what love is. It is the pain you feel when you can't be near the one you love, when you can't express every part of that emotional need through every part of your being. Also I think you completely missed the fact that she hates acting feminine and wants to be herself from now on.

Reading Yuri and Yaoi will not give you the answers you see. You have to experience it yourself. Feel that shiver that their very touch causes, the hunger for their lips, the need to see them everyday of your life. Only you can understand love and from as far as I have learned not many asexual people ever understand that deep need to be with other. It just might not be in there.

I wish I could help you understand, but it is impossible. I'd been in many relationships since I was very young and didn't truely understand love until I found my wife and soulmate. It is a bound that is stronger then anything in this world and can't easily be explained.

Sorry.

wow that is long and hateful! *reads from safe distance*

Okay... I get the result of her realizing she loves Ayumi... I wanted to know how she got to this conclusion.

I saw about how she hates being feminine, seesh. You never heard of sub-conscience? <.< And as much as I dislike stereotypes, I have to give it to her... it's not like she can come out better than like this.

Yet again... I was not inquiring about the current situation... I was asking about the intrigue (hope this is the right term in english too), about the moment she realized it wasn't just very close friendship kind of love she feels.

But, hey! If you're gonna get touchy and all that, don't bother with me. I'll just go find someone else explain this to me... the internet is full of people that might just understand my english. :P

oh, and as for asexuals... just because we don't think sex is the cherry on top of life it doesn't mean we can't love as strong as anyone else... We're just less... sexual about it. :P

I wasn't being hateful, more like baffled and you touched a soft spot for me. When I'm writing a story about someone trying to accept that they don't have to be feminine to be themselves and you say the dreams are a sign they need to get in touch with that side you don't thing that would set a Boi dyke off?

I already explained to you how she would know and it wasn't about sex. It was about not being able to be without the person. Reread my post because I explained it all and it wasn't about sex, but I guess you missed that.

seesh... I was telling you what psychologists say about dreaming you sleep with a girl (when you are a girl yourself, ofc)... that your character is different, I don't doubt it. I hate skirts myself as well.

I also have no idea what a Boi dyke is (though I keep chasing away this 'Battle of immortals' translation my brain recognizes).

as for the rest, I'll study more english and bother someone else after that, maybe I get to finally make my question understood properly.

I realized over the weekend as I struggled with panic attacks why this queistioning bothered me. You see a lot of people when they hear that someone is gay they start saying some rather annoying things and question their sexuality. You hit that spot on double with your comment. Sort of like questioning her sexuality and gender at the same time. If you have dealt with this issue for as many years as I have then you'll understand how it can trigger many bad experiances.

A boi Dyke is a very boyish girl who is also a lesbian, but more of a lesbian then normal. As in the moment you meet the person you know they are a lesbian. There is no question about it.

I don't think anyone can answer your questions. Love is love and if you can understand two people falling in love then it doesn't matter if they are straight or gay.

I remember when uniforms became enforced in our middle school. It was stereotypical view on it too: girls in blue skirts and boys in blue pants.

I didn't care if people thought it was weird or "out of the norm", but I went in pants and a tie.

And after so many comments on where my uniform skirt was...I just replied "I don't like cross dressing".

That was an interesting integration. Don't they have like.. a name for groups of men who feel women up on crowded subways? I remember watching a thing on it on a documentary. Their schools are so strict, it's scarily stressful sounding, too. I'm glad I graduated where I am.

Woow her hair looks short. Ayumi is going to be shocked.

Yeah they do, perverts. LOL. School out there is so rough that they have a 30% suicide rate, at the last I heard. I have friends from out there who have told me a lot. It is because of them I know so much about Japanese schools and what to put into my manga. I remember talking to this one mangaka at a convention and we got into the whole deal with girls having crushing on other girls in school. Turns out a lot of what we read in manga actually happens, even girls getting love letters and chocolates on V-day from other girls. It is actually very interesting.

Yeah it is short. It is based on my original drawings of her. She looks very different. I just hope everyone likes her other look.

I love the backstory for the boy's uniform, it sounds really interesting and it makes me love Melody even more. It's cool that she fought against the school so that girls could wear a boy's uniform. :D If I went to a school that had a uniform, I'd want to wear a boy's uniform, too! :XD:

It looks like Hitomi's hair will be really short! I like that. I wonder if any of her classmates will mistake her for a boy? This is going to be soooo great! I'm really excited about chapter 3!

It would be awesome if the first page of chapter 3 would be a full color picture of Hitomi in her boy's uniform, so we can see what she looks like in color while wearing it. It would be cool to see that.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I spent a long time trying to figure out a plausible explanation to how she ends up in a boy's uniform instead of just *poof* instead boy's uniform. So would I. There is no way I would wear those short skirts. No way.

Yeah, her hair is very short. I originally drew her with really short hair and then drew the long hair after deciding to add in more depth to her character. And yeah that could happen and more then likely will considering some of the many things I have planned for her that is one more possibility.

I do have plans to do the first page of her in her uniform in full colour that is for sure, but you'll have to wait a bit for that. The next part focuses for a moment on Ayumi, then moves back to Hitomi. I want to show more of Ayumi's life. It all comes together. You'll just have to wait a few pages before seeing her uniform and new hair. Sorry.

Thinking of surprises I think I'm going to delete A New You from online so people will not know what will happen next. It gives a little too much away.
