What do you know it only took two days to complete this, even with my wounded fingers. Well welcome to my newest series. I was originally going to go for a different style then my old series, but found myself turning back to this style again. I just hope the cute style works for a story that is somewhat series at times. I tried some new techniques when inking the last two panels, not exactly what I was hoping for but better then my old digital inking.

Well I hope you enjoy this page. I'm aiming to get a page up every 15th and 30th, if nothing gets in my way. Seeing as it only took 2 days to sketch, ink and tone, and the fact that I've got 3 pages sketched out already, I should be able to keep on schedule. Here is hoping this is a good year for art and manga.

Well jaa ne, oh if you find any typos please tell me and I'll fix them right away. Enjoy.

I give permission to these clubs to repost this: :icondapride::iconlgbtprideandvoices::iconthelesbianclub::iconeverything-girlxgirl:

So, how do grades work in Japan? I know in Ontario middle school is usually 7-8, but can be 6-8, and then it is grades 9-10 for high school. In Japan are people only in high school for two years? I'm just commenting as those two are 15 and I'm used to people already being in high school at 15.

Japanese schools have 3 years actually, grades 10-12. Moved to Ontario after my junior high school year which was grade 9. It made things very confusing because Ontario was 9-12 when I was young. I've never heard of 9-10 for high school in my life.

Ah, I see. Well Japan has a similar structure to Europe. 1-6 elementary, 7-9 Junior, 10-12 high school. I go into more details of this school in chapter 18 because this school they are going to works on a escalator system, which I go into more later.

WoW all this time and no one else caught that one. Thanks so much for telling me about it. I fixed it, thankfully I still had a copy of the original file unlike some of the pages that have gone missing. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, but the backgrounds are just toners I bought over the years. They make it quicker then struggling with the proper backgrounds for each image.

The only way to get better is to keep practicing. I've been drawing this stuff for 15 years and still learning new things with every day. So just keep at it and you'll get better over time.

I spent most of my life drawing and in art schools. It was after graduating that I got into this majorly. I suggest everyone go through art school before getting into this seriously. It helps a lot in the end. Colour theory and figurative studies more then anything else.

Well keep at it and never give up.

Thanks. I have books of scenery which help a lot when working on a manga like this.

Rena? Not sure who you are talking about. I tend to just sit down and sketch out characters at random until I find the right looks for them.

Well thanks, I'm glad you are enjoying it.

Nope, The names were taken from singers and not manga artist. Ayumi Hamasaki and Hitomi Yaida. Shiima is just a popular last name that I choose at the time. So it is a coincidence after all.

The lovable ditz. It makes for great high school angst and drama to have a character fall for the oblivious friend. It always makes you want to knock some sense into them, and see what their missing. But besides that, so far it's great. It's interesting you stuck with your style, since its how your known for, even if it's cute. We'll see how it plays along with the storyline. I also liked the background as well in the second panel.

Yeah, they seem to be a very common character in shoujo-ai stories. The thing about this story is that she just causes the main character to realize who she really is more then anything else.

The second panel is just a scann from a letrotone book. In Japan they have books just used for backgrounds. I have a couple of them and they make life so much easier.

I hope my style will work with this story, considering it is a comedy for a fair amount of it, it does get serious at points. I've been reading through a lot of manga and found that it doesn't matter what style one draws in a story can range in seriousness depending on the writers whim.

Considering she told herself she would confess her love to her best friend who is a complete ditz it is no wonder she looks troubled.

Thanks. I want to play around with stroke pressure more on your piece, but still need your colour templates to finish it.

That they do, times two. LOL

So the top colour is hair and the middle is flesh and the bottom eyes I take it? Is the dress supposed to be white? How about the flower in her hair and the sash?

That's right.

Claudia's appearances are limited, and everytime she's wearing something different. The colors for the outfit are therefore open, but I've found she looks nice in light blues...

Light blues hmmm.... Maybe I'll do that for the sash and keep the dress white because it looks good white. I'm thinking of sticking to pastel, soft, colours. I managed to finish the base colours last night, leaving what I did not know white, it is easy to switch the colours. I also found some new tricks with the pentool and simulated pressure that work nicely. I could barely get a wink of sleep as my mind thought up ways to use these new tricks. Consider your piece an experiment that I hope will pay off in the end.

Well, I should have it done by the end of the day at the very least, if my mind does not come up with more way to improve upon the image that is.

Well, back to work with me, jaa ne

I was born in 75 and started watching anime when I was only 5 with things like The Little Prince, Fables of the Green Forest, Kimba and Astro Boy. I wanted many others over the years and started reading manga near the end of the 80s. There was not much out back then and it is amazing just how much is available now a days.

I only consider myself an anime/manga artist because I spent so many years studying the style and after the head of Tezuka Osamu's company thanked me for continuing to spread the traditional shoujo style I started referring to myself as a anime/manga artist. I never really liked American cartoons because they were either too fluffy and full of happy endings or had no story to them at all. It was after discovering Nausicaa that I drove to write and draw in that style because it suited my stories.

Sorry to ramble. I need to get another tut finished before the day is out.

You got commented by the Tezuka company!!!!!!!!!!! That is a GREAT honor in my opinion!!!!
I like all types of cartoons, and yeah I also think that al that fluff is just...eh. I like the darl wierd stuff^^
Like I siad, your style is my top favorites in manga!!! I used to draw that way when I first started. No worries about the rant^^ Its no prob. It reminds me of Caravan Kid, Gun Kats ( I think thats what its called)Ranma 1/2 and of course the famous Tezuka! I actually sat down and read his Buddha series about the diseas when the doctor was turning into a half animal, half human. It is OMG dont know how to describe itOO

I was too stunned to speak when it happened myself. I was sitting at a guest table during a convention, that is where all the guest of honor sat. I was talking with Scott McNeil and someone else from that Gundum series, not interested in them as voice actors, just friends. After they gave the life time achievement award out, which was given to Tezuka... but hard to do when he was already dead. Anyway, after the awards I was asked by one of the staff to come to the front and was introduced to the head. He thanked me for all the work I'd done and all I could do was bow over and over again like some kind of idiot and say "domo arigoto" over and over again, then I ran off. Scott asked me what happened and I told him and he patted me on the back. It was something else that was for sure.

I think you are thinking of GunSmith Cats, by Kenichi Sonoda. I actually started out majorly into shoujo-ai because of his series Bubblegum Crisis and tend later got into GunSmith Cats. Between him and Satoshi Urushihara they are my major influences in my art. I was not much for Rumiko's works mind you and I don't think I ever read Caravan Kidd. I did have Outlanders which is by the same artist. Not sure I've read the Buddha series, might have to look for it in the future.

You know I've been kicking myself for not drawing this series in a more shoujo style thinking that my style can't pull off a serious story and I just recalled that Tomizawa pulled off a rather deep and depressing series with an even odder and cuter style, then you have Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and several others with cute but dark stories. I think I've just been kicking myself too much as of late.

Well, I'm off to finish this one last image, hopefully will have it done before the night is done.

Oh she has eyes. She is just very happy in this part of the story. I never noticed I drew her with her eyes shut in both panels.

The squinty eyes is supposed to represent certain asians I think. In this case she is just very happy. You'll see in the next page, which I'll be posting on the 30th.
